The app “Alertcops”, which the Interior Ministry launched in the Balearics, Andalusia, Canaries, Valencia, Madrid and Ceuta and Melilla in August, has handled 6,500 alerts from users - 572 of which were responded to do and solved.
The app is totally free and currently has 46,000 users and the Interior Ministry hopes that more members of the general public download the app because it provides instant access to the police.
