The Guardia Civil yesterday mounted a massive narcotics operation across Majorca.

Palma.—The main focus of the investigation leading up to yesterday’s operation was Sa Pobla and the Guardia Civil were given the green light to go at 5a.m. and various squads positioned across the island simultaneously mounted the operations two hours later.
For months, the Guardia Civil Drugs squad had been monitoring the activities of a gang of Moroccans and Spanish nationals trafficking and dealing drugs in various parts of the island, in particular Alcudia, Sa Pobla, Inca, Lloret, Montuiri, Manacor, Porto Cristo and Palma.
The Guardia Civil Organised Crime squad and the Anti Drugs  unit from Palma were involved in the operation which involved over 20 shops and business premises being searched by heavily armed members of the Guardia Civil wearing anti-stab  and flak jackets while Guardia Civil helicopters provided aerial support.
As a result of the raids, over seven kilos of cocaine were confiscated along with over 100 marijuana plants and 65,000 euros in cash, amongst other items.
