Two groups, Eivissa Diu No (Ibiza says no) and Eivissa Antipetrolifera, will be staging a protest this Thursday against oil prospecting in the Balearic Sea. The groups’ principal objective is to remove a dependency on fossil fuels in the medium to long term, something which has been identified by a further group, the Platform for a New Energy Model.
The protest is due to be attended by representatives of political parties from across Spain, while the parties in Ibiza have also been invited to attend and to issue a promise to the citizens of Ibiza (and the rest of the Balearics) of a change in the current model of energy to one that is sustainable, efficient and intelligent.
