The Ibizan association for small to medlum-sized businesses, Pimeef, has added its support for the regional government’s urgent decree which has suspended licences for large retail stores for the next six months. Pimeef is echoing the backing for the regional minister of trade, Iago Negueruela, that has come from the inter-island trade advisory commission, and so is opposing the “inexplicable” constitutional challenge to the Balearic Trade Act launched by central government.
In addition to this support, Pimeef is pressing the Council of Ibiza on the need for a general plan for commercial establishments in order to define  future retailing on the island.
