Perhaps stung by reports such as one in "The Bulletin" of residents taking street cleaning into their own hands, the environment department in Andratx has launched an awareness campaign to try and bring an end to uncleanliness on the streets and to better preserve public infrastructure.

The town hall has been distributing information leaflets with the aim of making residents aware of their responsibilities for the efficient use of natural resources and for the image and cleanliness of the town. "Taking care of the town is also in your hands," says councillor Estefanía Gonzalvo, who adds that the town hall will not skimp in devoting financial and human resources in order to keep streets clean. "But we need the co-operation of residents."
