Specific modifications without definitive approval to Calvia’s revised general urban organisation plan (PGOU) will not be processed in order to avoid “distortions” to this plan.

What this means is that there will be a paralysing of certain developments, such as in Son Caliu, Santa Ponsa and the marina in Magalluf as well of a revision to the plan for Calvia’s tourist areas.

Antonio García Moles, the deputy mayor for tourism, commerce and urban planning, and the director-general for urban planning, Jaume Carbonero, have set out a series of proposals to be taken to the next council meeting which will focus on urban rehabilitation, regeneration and renovation.

Moles says that there is no intention to modify the existing population ceiling, while noting that the new PGOU will, on account of its complexity, not be fully approved until just before the end of the current administration’s period of office in 2019.
