The Aemet met office has issued level-one and level-two weather warnings for the Balearics and the 112 emergency centre will be on red alert as gale force winds gusting at 90 to 120 kilometres per hour batter the islands.
The main reason for this cold snap is the cold front hanging over the mainland and overnight temperatures are forecast to drop to around 10ºC lower than they have been over the past few weeks.
Daytime temperatures are also going to be dragged down by the gale force winds. Maximum temperatures will remain in double figures but low to middle teens at best for the most part of next week.
Tomorrow, snow is forecast in Majorca at 1,000 metres while elsewhere outbreaks of rain, which will be heavy if not torrential at times, can be expected and the gale force winds will continue to blow from the north east.
The good news is that no weather alerts have been issued for Monday and slowly conditions will improve next week, although they will remain unsettled.
And looking ahead into December, at the moment the long-range forecast is very good with highs of 19ºC forecast for the middle of the month. But don't get too excited, conditions could change quickly.
