Heat wave is coming. | Jason Moore

Mainland Spain may be set for a rather cooler summer, but the east coast and the Balearics can expect temperatures to be as high as usual and yesterday the Balearic health service issued a set of guidelines to help the general public endure the handful of expected heat waves.

Last year, 15 people were admitted to hospital suffering from heat stroke and this summer, the health service is going to be distributing information leaflets, putting up thousands of posters and providing local authorities and councils with extra support and advice to help people combat a heat wave.

The groups most at risk are the over 65s, babies, the chronically ill and those on heavy medication.
