Before they left, they had some ice-cream.

Two 23-year-old women, one Spanish, the other Romanian, have been arrested by the National Police for having stolen cash from an ice-cream parlour in Palma's La Lonja area.

Both the women were former employees of the Heladería Rivareno. One had been given severance pay and the other had been fired. They had made a copy of the key to the door and when out running at night, they would stop at the ice-cream parlour, enter and steal relatively small amounts of money from the till. They would also help themselves to some ice-cream.

This seemingly went on for a period of a couple of months. Although there were security cameras, these were only checked during working hours. It was only when a recording was looked at by chance that it was realised what had been happening.

A couple of nights ago, the owner, Ricardo Falcone, and some employees waited to see if the two women showed up. They did. The police were called and they were arrested. He reckons that they stole between 10,000 and 15,000 euros.
