The VI Spanish Para-Badminton International tournament officially gets into full swing today, but yesterday teams from across the world were warming up for the event which runs until finals’ day on Sunday.

This year’s tournament is the largest it has ever been. The sport will make its debut at the Tokyo Olympic Games and there are 161 players representing 26 countries competing at the Alcudia sports centre.

Play starts this morning and entrance is free and open to the public. Organiser Amparo Rayó is extremely pleased with the number of entrants and the support from the local authorities, the hotel federation in Alcudia and Suzanne Lyons at Viajes Adramar.

Teams from Austria, Italy, England, Scotland, Russia, Holland and India were busy warming up yesterday.
