One of Europe’s finest blues and roots musicians

Mallorca does have a habit of presenting concerts by top acts in the seemingly most unlikely of places.

The island has done it again with one of Europe’s finest blues and roots guitarists and vocalists, Hans Theessink. Originally from Enschede in the Netherlands, he’s been active for more than forty years and has an extensive and distinctive back catalogue of releases.
He has stuck very much to the tradition of American blues, not using the likes of drum machines when performing solo (he also has a band) and relying on his instincts as a guitarist. Such his reputation on the international stage that he became the first European to be nominated for the Blues Music Awards; this was in 2009. He has also been invited to play at major US festivals like the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
