The Mallorca 312 meets expectations on a day of sun, good weather and lots of cycling. | R.D.
It has to be acknowledged that events such as Mallorca 312 are not to everyone’s liking because of the inconvenience.
However, there are substantial benefits in terms of numbers of people staying on the island and spending on the island. There is also the reinforcement of Mallorca as a destination for sports and active tourism, and this assists in tackling tourism seasonality.
The popularity of Mallorca 312 is such that this year’s event sold out in a matter of hours. 8,000 cyclists will be taking part on one of three routes, the longest being 312 kilometres; the others are 167 and 225 kilometres.

Each year there are “honoured” participants, former professional cyclists. Wearing the honorary bib this year will be Annemiek van Vleuten, who most recently rode for the Movistar Team and was the first female rider to win the Tour de France Femmes and Giro Donne (Giro d’Italia Women) in the same year.
