The big question is...what do British tourists prefer for lunch on a Sunday when they are on holiday..roast beef or paella? Judging by our social media accounts it is roast beef. Obviously, there are a large number of British tourists who want to try local cuisine but the British traditional favourite comes out on top according to our social media poll. What more can the local authorities do to promote local food to British tourists?

Tranquil. Never ever ignore the quality of what is traditionally working class food. One of my favourite foods when I am on the island is the traditional Mallorcan soup made with veggies bread and what would be very little meat scraps. My area has a similar soup or broth as we call it here , it contains similar ingredients and dumplings. My mother raised me on it as a kid at least twice a week a long with herring baked meat on weekend only Saturday and Sunday. Tuscan cuisine is also at its best when the poor food is experienced. History made us along with environment and should be respected
Many tourists coming to these shores are probably not aware of Mallorca´s culinary heritage. Of course they aren't because it doesn't have one. Until the start of tourism in the 50/60's Mallorca was full of peasants with a small ruling elite.. The peasants ate peasant food and the rulers ate french influenced food like their compatriots on the mainland ( many were mainlanders.) Peasant food is based on the cheapest basic staples in season, and the cheapest cuts of meat when available. Frito mallorquin, escaldums, pa amb oli, snails in garlic. Ask a Gallego or a Catalan what they think of Mallorca's culinary heritage
It was sarcastic bullshit, so it's no surprise you hadn't heard of it. But it doesn't matter. It doesn't need to be true to be proper British, so you're safe.
First time I heard that one Morgan so I can only believe you. Obviously she Victoria was from the saxony European monarchies line. And her husband was from the then new state of Germany. So would expect German cuisine would be in their house. He introduced Christmas trees to the British festive tradition also. Back to curry wursts My drinking pall recalled an event during the immediate end of 1945. The then well equipped squadies had curry powder and the German population wurst So they traded and a new cuisine invented. The rest of British survival was by stealing from the truly well equipped yanks.
So was wienerschnitzel. And bratkartoffeln. Invented by queen Victoria, wasn't it? And paella was invented by Jamie, no? All proper British stuff. So, no need to be afraid.
I curry wurst, can’t beat it. British invention apparently according to a drinking companion of mine in Berlin once told me. It was after many beers but I had no doubt to question his validity.
Or good British brands like Burger King? (Only for the most discerning tastes, of course)

The choice of roast beef or paella is that the question on true Mallorca cuisine. The U.K. certainly my area, is well served with Spanish style restaurants and tapas bars, my mate Paco owns one, and he hails from Cadiz. The delicious true island food is excellent one my favourite haunts in Palma is the jamon stand in the central market great atmosphere good Iberia ham. Obviously not Mallorca but different to Spain euro style. Let folks enjoy all the foods it their holidays but encourage the, to be adventurous
