Fallen trees, damaged boats and broken signs were the result of the high winds that hit Majorca this morning. In Puerto Andratx it was an all but familiar scene, with one yacht smashed after having been dragged on to the rocks. Its occupant had fortunately been rescued before this happened.

Boats at the sailing club were also damaged, while two palm trees fell. Fortunately, they caused no injuries.

Near Deya, the Majorca fire service had to attend fires that had broken out because of stubble that was being burned. They issued a reminder to be "very alert" when it is windy. Fire crews also had to go to the sports centre in Alcudia where a wall was damaged by the wind.

The Aemet meteorology agency have maintained a yellow alert into the afternoon with gusts typically reaching 80kph and up to 120kph in the Tramuntana mountains.
