The Mayor of Andratx and leader of the centre-right Partido Popular in the municipality, Estefania Gonzalvo, said that it was a grave error not to listen to foreign residents because they could help find solutions to present day problems which had been successfully dealt with in their country of origin.

Finally – I was hoping that this topic would hit the headlines on MDB, and thanks to you Jason for bringing it up. It is time for the local politicians to look into what the foreigners has to say - resident or not, even we are a minority we all love the island and its inhabitants, and believe me, we are aware that it is a privilege to own property on the Island. That being said; I admit being sick and tired of always reading about the troubles foreigners bring, the politician should instead start to look at the human resources, knowledge's etc. that we bring to the Island, we are not the root cause so stop blaming us for what is, without any doubt, a clearly failed political line started in the 70´s, or even earlier. At that time no one questioned the fact of foreigners was buying property, and furthermore there were no clear plan on how to develop cities, infrastructure, jobs not relating to the tourism and i could continue this for miles and miles, so we ended up here where we are, but now it is time for the politicians to act responsible and start looking just one step further than their own nose tip.
