The 27-year-old German male suspect who allegedly stabbed another man on Friday in Playa de Palma was remanded in custody today as the alleged perpetrator of the murder.

The National Police have transferred him to prison from the Son Espases Hospital by court order, the Balearics High Command has informed.

According to investigators, the cause of the fight in which a man was stabbed to death in Playa de Palma last Friday was a debt.

The dispute began at around 2am on Friday morning, inside a bar which was already closed to the public, and where only a group of friends remained. Two of them began to argue violently until one of them left.
After a while, the other man followed him and they started a fist fight in the street.

When one of them pulled out a knife, the other tried to run away, but the aggressor caught up with him, both fell to the ground, and the victim was stabbed in several parts of his body.
Other friends managed to stop the attack.

The assailant fled and left the victim with fatal wounds, lying on the ground, bleeding.
Friends and other neighbours in the area tried to help the victim but could do nothing to save his life.
Several patrols of the National Police Citizen Security unit were on the scene and arrested the assailant, who had returned to the scene of the crime, on suspicion of murder.
