At the end of this year, a third region of Spain will have a tourist tax. Following the trail blazed by Catalonia and the Balearics (twice, with one tax having been scrapped), Valencia will be joining the ranks.

Being that Benidorm is the very icon of Brits abroad cheapness, it's no surprise that they'd be reluctant to impose a 2€ tourist tax. That could be seem quite expensive to their primary tourist demographic, and could have consequences. And Benidorm doesn't have the resources to up their game to attract a more sophisticated tourist profile., so they're kind of stuck with
