GOB, the environmentalist group, is having its say about what has been described as Majorca’s most dangerous road - a stretch of the Llucmajor-Campos road.
Following a meeting with representatives from the Council of Majorca, GOB said that it had wanted to address the “urgent” matter of the road and intentions to widen it: a project for widening was first put forward by the previous Council administration.
While congratulating the Council for provisional measures it has adopted, GOB argues that changes which involve widening should be made with minimal impact and that alternatives which take account of broader issues of transport should be looked at. GOB is proposing that there be a development with slow lanes in both directions along stretches of the road where needed, but that public transport needs to be improved and made cheaper in order to remove private vehicles.
