The regional government’s minister of finance, Catalina Cladera, has forecast that the government’s revenue will increase by 191 million euros in 2016. This estimation is based on tax rises for wealth, inheritance and gifts as well as the incorporation of two new taxes - the tourist tax and one on large retail outlets.

We have for many years come to Mallorca for 5 or 6 weeks in winter (December to February), a time when businesses are quiet and many in fact close. In that time we spend considerable amounts of money in the local economy. In at least three visits others have come out to your island to join us for some of these times. We will certainly not continue to do that if a tourist tax such as has been written about in the UK papers is introduced. A tax of 170 euros to bring our business to your island would clearly instantly put us, and many others who we know that are like us, off coming
These clowns in government will never learn you can't keep taxing people who have no money it is suicidal for the tourist industry Mallorca will suffer people will go elsewhere so shops hotels unemployment will all rise then they talk about taking in migrants who is going to pay for them you need to look after your own people and your tourist lifeline because if you don't you will be the only losers
