In May the couple landed in Mallorca on a private plane and were transferred by helicopter to the Abeona, the businessman's support ship. Then they got on an auxiliary boat to get to the Koru. The businessman and the journalist spent the first night in the bay of Palma with the magnificent views of La Seu and during the weekend they toured the Balearic coast. After that they headed to the south of France, where the couple got engaged.
Bezos and Sánchez, born into a Mexican-American family in Albuquerque (New Mexico), made their relationship public for the first time in 2019. Last month the couple lavished gestures of affection in the Calvià area, more specifically on Illetes beach and in Son Caliu and on Wednesday they were photographed in Ibiza, where they disembarked to stroll through Cala Jondal.
A dream vessel
Koru is a luxury custom superyacht. The vessel was built in the Netherlands by Oceanco starting in 2021, and delivered in April 2023. It is a three-masted sailing yacht 127 metres (417 ft) long and reported to have cost $500 million or more. When commissioned, the yacht was the second-largest sailing yacht in the world, after Andrey Melnichenko's Sailing Yacht A.
The main peculiarity of this yacht is it moves driven by the kinetic energy generated by its huge sails. This mechanism transforms the movement of the ship into energy, but if the wind does not blow, it has a powerful motor.
Up to 18 guests can be accommodated on board the superyacht, Koru, and she also has accommodation for 36 crew members. The sailing yacht is presently moored in the Club de Mar in Palma which looks set to be her regular base.
